Committees

The Membership Outreach Committee Members are San Marcos Chamber of Commerce partner-volunteers who, by engaging current, new, and perspective members and volunteering at Chamber events, assist and support the Chamber, while actively extending their own business contacts and their company’s visibility.   

  • Visit a minimum of two existing Chamber members per month as assigned and agreed upon with the committee chair.
  • Attend a minimum of 9 committee meetings per year.
  • Attend a minimum of 1 Chamber event per month (i.e. Ribbon Cutting, Mixer, Plates For 8, etc.)
  • Moderate 1 Plates For 8 meeting per year.
  • Collect a total of 6 Opportunity Drawing items per year.
  • Meetings – Monthly, dates TBD

Each committee member will receive:

  • A Chamber name badge
  • A Member Spotlight in one edition of the Chamber’s e-Newsletter

The Chamber Community Committee will not only enrich our chamber member package but connect businesses with volunteer and philanthropic opportunities for local nonprofits

Goals & Strategies:

  •  Increase the Chamber’s impact for our nonprofit members, time and resources that companies offer are critical to meeting the pressing needs of our community
  • Attract new chamber members interested in a social impact initiative
  • Volunteering promotes trust and camaraderie by building a sense of community among employees as they work toward a common goal
  • Create standard or unique volunteer engagement list for membersmore than 80% of professionals said they developed leadership skills as a result of unique and tailored volunteer experiences
  • Help our business partners attract and retain next-gen employees in this challenging, competitive labor market. Today’s top young talent considers corporate volunteer programs a significant priority when evaluating potential jobs. Nearly two-thirds of young professionals say they would prefer to work for a company that provides opportunities to serve the community with their skills, and more than half said they would consider a lesser role or lower wage if they were certain they could contribute more to society
  • Create and maintain the engagement opportunities on the Chamber website

 Time Commitment:

  • 2-4 hours per month including monthly or bi-monthly lunch meetings held at Chamber non-profit locations

Committee Participants: 

  • 3-6+ participants, at least 2 non-profit professionals
  • Additional members with passion for volunteerism (1 rep per business/organization)
  • Engaging and inspiring diverse servant leaders to transform the community through vision, collaboration, engagement, and generosity.

Goals & Strategies:

  •  Promote and facilitate personal and professional development through educational and informational programs and activities.
  • Transforming knowledge into impact by providing diverse opportunities for professional development, community involvement, and networking.
  • Through our leadership experiences we bring together an inclusive, diverse group of people who we train in servant leadership to use their strengths and passions to make change, solve problems and take advantage of the opportunities in our community.
  • Develop San Marcos Leadership Academy

Time Commitment:

  •  1-3 hours per month, including a monthly meeting
